Vision

Transform and build a sustainable and caring community with self-sufficiency, dignity, harmony and happiness for them to be agents of positive change.

How It All Began

It was in the year 2017 after the bifurcation of the Province we felt a strong inclination to reach out to the vulnerable children, young people and women in Kannagi Nagar.

Rt. Rev. Neethinathan, the Bishop of Chingalepet gave us permission to render our social service. In the process, we discovered the challenges of children, youth and women of Kannagi nagar who struggle for their livelihood and we planned to start our work with the people. Initially we met the people and our daily interaction with the community paved way for us to begin our services like evening study centres, women self-help groups, youth clubs and children’s club etc…  In the year 2019 Marialaya was registered under The Societies Registration Act of 1975

Who We Are

We the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians popularly is known as Salesian sisters of Don Bosco. Our Institute was founded in 1872 by St. John Bosco and St. Mary Domenica Mazzarello through the direct intervention of Mary Help of Christians. We commit ourselves to educating and serving young people of all ages especially the poor and marginalised. Salesian sisters continue to keep alive the flame of Christ the Good Shepherd and share Christ’s mission in the church through Christian education in the style of the Preventive system, a system of loving kindness, drawn from the heart of Christ Himself. We also assist women and young people at risk and accompany them in their search for meaning in life. As daughters of Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello we accompany the children, young people and women and help them in making a difference in their lives. We the Salesian educators help them to build a better society and thereby a better nation.
